Final Testing
With all configurations in "test" mode, conduct test cases. Any bugs or changes should be added as sub-tasks of the Final Testing task, and then re-tested as necessary.
How to Test
As you test the various functions and features of a Shopify website, accurately reporting any errors is very important if we expect to efficiently and quickly resolve any issues and keep the launch date expectations. Simply reporting that something doesn't work is not enough, and it will result in delays. Help our team succeed by providing accurate error reports.
To submit an error report:
- Record all information, including product names/SKUs, addresses, quantities, selections, etc. Sometimes errors occur due to a particular value or selection, so having all the information used will help us quickly identify the issue.
- Copy and paste any URLs of web pages on which you're reporting. It is very important to include URLs as they may be dynamically generated and, therefore, might be causing the error.
- If possible, capture a screenshot of the error or unexpected result. Visuals help us, especially when noting layout or display errors. If you can, annotate the screenshot to highlight the issue. Note: There are several notable browser add-ons that create screenshots. One we use is called Awesome Screenshot. If you do use it, however, go into the preferences for this tool and de-select any choice that provides coupons (this is a stealth advertising feature). Other than that, it works great.
- Email your report to tests@onelivemedia.com. Use "[Store Name] Test Report" as the subject line of your email, substituting the actual name of the store for "[Store Name]."
When a test report is received, the tech team first reviews the submission. If any information is missing or unclear, a reply to the submitter will be generated and the request put on hold.
Next, the team will verify the reported results. If the error or situation cannot be replicated, the submitter may be asked to repeat the actions that resulted in the error, and provide more details to help the team obtain the same results.
Once the error is replicated, it will be added as a sub-task to the Final Testing task so it can be assigned and tracked. When the error is fixed, the submitter may be asked to re-test and confirm the fix.
Test Components
Rather than simply test haphazardly, we prefer that testers make sure they explore all aspects of a store site.
Regardless of how thorough site testing might be, it is impossible to test all possible scenarios or situations. However, it is imp
