Configure SEO Tools

Many tools are used to capture store site analytics. The following are instructions for the tools we use at OLM.

Set Up Google Webmaster Tools

  1. Log into google.com/webmasters/tools/ with metrics@onelivemedia.com
  2. Click Add a Property button in the top right
  3. Enter the URL of the live site
  4. Click Continue
  5. If the Recommended Method that it defaults to is not Google Analytics, Click the Alternate Methods tab
  6. Choose Google Analytics
  7. Click Verify. You should get a message with a green check mark saying “Congratulations…”
If it is unable to verify with Analytics:
  1. Click to choose the HTML tag in Webmaster Tools verification screen
  2. Copy the meta tag shown
  3. Log into the site’s shopify backend
  4. Click Online Store in the left menu
  5. Click Themes
  6. Click Customize theme on the top right of the page
  7. Scroll down in the right side menu and click on Advanced
  8. In Custom Header Code, paste the meta tag on a new line at the bottom after everything else in this box. Be careful not to edit any of the code that is already in the box!
  9. Click Save Changes
  10. Go back to the Webmaster Tools Verification screen and click Verify
If the store URL does NOT look like “store.band.com” or “shop.band.com” you need to add both the www and non www versions (e.g. musichallaustin.com and www.musichallaustin.com). In this case:
  1. Go back to the search console in Webmaster Tools
  2. Click the Add a Property button in the top right
  3. Enter the URL of the site in the format that you have not yet used (e.g.if you already added www.musichallaustin.com then you need to add musichallaustin.com)
  4. Click Continue
  5. Choose the same verification method that you used for the first instance.
  6. Click Verify. This should give you the green check mark, assuming you already verified the other version of the site’s URL.
After you get the confirmation from verifying either the store URL or both versions of the "www" URL, click continue under the confirmation message.
  1. Click Messages in the left menu
  2. Click on the message “Improve the search presence of www.band.com”
  3. Click set preferred version
  4. Under Preferred domain, choose the WWW version of the website.
  5. Click Save.
Add the sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools
  1. Click on the property you are adding
  2. Click on Crawl in the left side menu
  3. Click on sitemaps
  4. Click Add/Test Sitemap
  5. Enter sitemap.xml in the text box that pops up
  6. Click submit sitemap
  7. Test the sitemap by refreshing the page and make sure no errors are showing
Now you need to link the Google Webmaster Tools with the site’s analytics:
  1. Log into Google analytics with metrics@onelivemedia.com
  2. Click the Admin tab
  3. Under Accounts choose the account that this site is in
  4. Under Property choose this property
  5. Click Property Settings
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  7. Under Webmaster Tool Settings click Edit
  8. Choose the www version of the site you just verified in Google Webmaster Tools
  9. Click Save
  10. Click OK on the notification that pops up
  11. It will take you back to the Analytics settings screen. Click Save.

Set Up Bing Webmaster Tools

  1. Log into bing.com/toolbox/webmaster/ using Metrics@onelivemedia.com
  2. In the text box at the top of the screen enter the URL of the site you are adding
  3. Enter the URL of the store's xml sitemap in the second text box (e.g. store.bassnectar.com/sitemap.xml)
  4. Click Add
  5. Click Add again on the next screen
  6. Copy the Meta Name code (it looks like this  <meta name="msvalidate.01" content="8942FC0E132A73FE5A638F60F7DBA091" />
  7. Log into the site’s shopify
  8. Click Online Store in the left menu
  9. Click Themes
  10. Click the Customize theme button on the top right of the page
  11. Scroll down in the right side menu and click on advanced
  12. In the text box for Custom Header Code, paste the meta tag on a new line at the bottom after everything else in this box. Be careful not to edit any of the code that is already in the box!
  13. Click Save Changes
  14. Go back to the Webmaster Tools Verification screen and click Verify

Set Up Raven Tools

Log into Raven Tools
  1. Click the Properties drop down menu at the top of the page and choose the correct property to associate with this site (eg BandMerch, Global, OLM, Sony, etc.)
  2. Click the Campaign drop down menu at the top of the page
  3. Click Add New Campaign
  4. Enter the URL of the store in the text box
  5. Click Continue
  6. Click Authorize Google Analytics
  7. Click to connect with Google Analytics with metrics@onelivemedia.com
  8. Click Accept to allow Raven Tools offline access
  9. Click the drop down menu and select the store’s GA Profile
  10. Click Submit Note: Make sure you are in the campaign view that you are working on by looking at the top of the page, you should see the site's name where it says "Campaign"
  11. Once on the dashboard, scroll down to the GWT Ranking box and click "Connect Google Webmaster Tools"
  12. Click Connect to Webmaster Tools
  13. Make sure Metrics@onelivemedia.com is showing in the drop down menu, click Use This Account
  14. Click the store’s domain name (e.g. www.band.com)
  15. Click Add this Domain
  16. Click the Site Auditor-Summary section and connect to the site auditor. This will take some time to crawl the site, no need to wait for it.
  17. Click on Reports in the left side menu
  18. Click on the Report Builder in the left side menu
  19. Click the New Report button
  20. Click Import
  21. From the drop down choose SEO Report with Facebook (If we have FB Access) & eCommerce & SEO Report Template  based upon the client
  22. Click Submit
  23. Click the report name to open the report
  24. Click on Tool Options button in the top right then click Report settings
  25. Click the Scheduling Tab
  26. Set Frequency to Weekly
  27. Set Date Range to Last 30 Days
  28. Set Day of the Week to Sunday
  29. Click Email Settings Tab
  30. Switch the Configure Email Settings for this report option to Yes
  31. In the To field type metrics@onelivemedia.com and the e-mail address of the Account Manager for this client (if available).
  32. In the message text box change the message to “This report for STORE NAME has been generated by OneLive Media.”
  33. In the subject field change the subject to include the site name like this: "STORE NAME Store Report from ONELIVE Media"
  34. Click Submit

Configure Yotpo

  1. Log into Yotpo.
    1. Username webmaster@onelivemedia.com
    2. Password hpmqV8kvz5hxfQjknFH4
  2. Select the store you wish to configure in the top, upper-right drop-down menu. Yotpo-Store-Drop-down
  3. On the Dashboard, if a yellow button, "ACTIVATE CONVERSION TRACKING," appears, click the button.
  4. Click ACTIVATE.
  5. Click through the arrows of the modal dialog (code is already installed on the site). On the last screen, click ACTIVATE CONVERSION TRACKING.
  6. Click Tools in the top menu bar. Each section appears in the left sidebar.
  7. Go to Google > Seller Ratings in the left sidebar menu.
  8. Make sure Enabled is selected in the upper right hand of the center box.
  9. Category: Select the most appropriate category.
  10. Change domain for google seller: Enter the live URL of the site (the URL that will be used when the store is launched).
  11. Click Save changes.
  12. Go to Rich Snippets in the left menu.
  13. Make sure Enabled is selected.

Configure LiveChat

NOTE: The store URL is now set by a URL rule through LiveChat. Verify that a rule exists for the store group.
  1. Log into LiveChat.
  2. Click the Settings (gear icon at top).
  3. Click the link pick a group. LiveChat
  4. Choose the Group from the pulldown menu.
  5. Click Installation from the side menu.
  6. Under URL rules Click Add URL rules.
  7. If no rule exists for the store URL, Click Add rule.
  8. Enter the store URL and assign to the Group.
  9. Click Save rule.

NOTE: Earlier stores used a variable in GTM. This method is no longer used by LiveChat. Each group will now have associated rules.

The store URL will need to be updated in Google Tagmanager.

  1. Log into Google Tagmanager.
  2. Find the appropriate Container.
  3. Go to Variables.
  4. Click on LiveChat Groups.
  5. Edit the Shopify URL to the Store URL without the "http."
  6. Click Save Variable.
  7. Click Publish.

Optimize the Site's Homepage Meta Description and Title

  1. Log into the website's Shopify Store
  2. Click on Settings in the left side menu
  3. Click on Online Store
  4. In the Homepage Title text box enter a proper title. (e.g. The Who Official Website)
  5. In the Homepage Meta Description text box enter a compelling and appropriate description (e.g. The Who Official website is the best place for news, merchandise, fan club, tour dates, Presale and VIP ticketing, interactive forums and information about The Who.)
  6. Click Save
