Add Shipping Cut Off Date Text Below Shipping Method Buttons on Checkout Page –

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. Overview
2. Ask Shopify to unlock the checkout.
3. Add Javascript function to bottom of checkout.liquid

OVERVIEW

This technique was first used on the https://august-burns-red.myshopify.com checkout. Use this technique when you need extra text The challenge is the cart logic is hosted off of the store and the elements are not directly editable through the liquid. So the only way to add text inside the buttons is to inject some javascript code.

UNLOCK THE CHECKOUT

• Make sure store is on plus. This technique will only work with Plus stores.
• Before any code can be added, you must ask Shopify to unlock the checkout. This usually takes them a day or two.
• Once Shopify unlocks the store the checkout will look broken due to it using a default template, so you will need to copy template code from an existing store.

THE CODE:

Open checkout.liquid and add this code to the bottom of the page.

<script type="text/javascript">
  $( document ).ready(function() {
      console.log( "ready to add shipping text!" );
      $( ".content-box__row:contains('Second Day Shipping')" ).append( '<p style="text-decoration: underline;  margin-top: 10px;">2 Business Days if order is placed before 11:00am PST</p>' );

      $( ".content-box__row:contains('Next Day Shipping')" ).append( '<p style="text-decoration: underline;  margin-top: 10px;">1 Business Day if order is placed before 11:00am PST</p>' );
  });
</script>

HOW THE CODE WORKS

The code looks for the "content-box__row" div and finds the element that contains "Second Day Shipping" or "Next Day Shipping" text. and injects a message after.

LIMITATIONS

The code relies on the shipping title to have a specific name. If the shipping rate is named something different (even a minor difference) then the code will need to be modified accordingly.
