Live Show Editing
Make contact with the FOH (Front Of House) Audio Engineer and establish a mutual agreement on how the full show file will be sent to OLM for editing. Clients have used various methods including DropBox, Hightail, and FTP programs. File formats are dependent on what types of formats the clients want to distribute to customers, usually 320kbps MP3 and FLAC. It is best to receive the full show file in the best possible quality format, and convert after editing. WAV files are large, but are the best option to maintain sound quality. Edit the show (or "track") using sound editing software such as Audacity, Cool Edit or Sound Forge. Add meta data to each song file including artist, show date, city, song title, and copyright information. General copyright info is advised because there may be multiple copyright holders of different song titles (I.E. "Copyright 2015"). Standard procedure is if the artist talks more than 10 seconds between songs, that will be a separate track. Preview the entire show to make sure there are no anomalies in the recording or the transfer process. Track each song and edit metadata accordingly. Preview the final edited tracks to insure continuity and accuracy. Upload the completed song files to the proper OLM DropBox folder as well as uploading to the sales service and then enable, or publish, those files so they become available to customers. For Live Willie shows the zip files must be sent to the customers via Hightail, use the VIP and Upsell spreadsheets to determine the customers that need the shows. FYI Willie shows are recorded at 192kbps mp3 so upconverting will not gain any sound quality, just keep them at 192kbps.
