Create Pre-Sale Items in Magento/Send Orders When Pre-Sale Period Ends

  1. Either from an existing product or while creating a new product
  2. Select the general tab underneath product information option from the base product (The general tab will be the preset tab you visit whenever opening a product).
  3. Select yes in the pre-sale field underneath the weight field (this will designate item as pre-sale).
Note:To designate an item as a pre-sale item, the item must be a simple product. (If creating a configurable product, for example: a t-shirt) the corresponding sizes from the base configurable set-up will give you the option to select the sizes as a pre-sale product which will designate anything the customer can order as a pre-sale item.

The purpose of this pre-sale tag within any simple product SKU is to give you the ability to withhold sending that particular SKU to SP (fulfillment center). This allows an item to sell on the shop end without having SP's inventory for that SKU override the available inventory.

Once SP has received inventory for your SKU marked with the pre-sale tag, the pre-sale tag can be removed from the SKU and the order for that particular item will be sent to SP.

Note: Please note that any other item in an order with a pre-sale tag item will also not have it's order sent to SP until the pre-sale tag for the item in the order has been removed. The order will only send to SP when all items in the order do not have a pre-sale tag attached.
