Managing Shopify Bulk Discount Codes

In addition to creating one-off coupon codes, you can create a discount that can be applied across many unique discount codes.

Bulk Discounts App

Before you can add bulk codes, you have to install a free Shopify app called Bulk Discount Codes.
  1. Log into the Shopify store Admin.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. If the Bulk Discounts App is not already showing in the list of Installed Apps, click Visit the App Store.
  4. Search for "Bulk Discounts." In the list of search results, click on Bulk Discounts by Shopify.
  5. Click Get.
  6. Click New Discount Set.
  7. Under Generate discounts:
    1. Name of discount campaign enter a descriptive title for the discount code campaign.
    2. How many times can this discount be used? If the codes can only be used a limited number of times per code, uncheck No limit and enter a quantity of times in the space.
  8. Under Discount type:
    1. You can choose an amount, percentage or free shipping discount in the first dropdown.
    2. Each discount type allows different rules criteria. Choose/enter whatever is appropriate for your campaign.
  9. Under Date range:
    1. Enter a start and end date for the campaign.
    2. Unlike individual discount codes, bulk codes require an expiration date.
  10. Under Name and number of discounts:
    1. You can have the system generate codes using a prefix of your choosing, or
    2. You can import a list of codes, with each code on an individual line.
  11. Click Save Discount Set.

Once you save your discount set, the system will take some time to generate all the multiple discount rules for Shopify. In essence, this app is creating multiple individual rules in Shopify, rather than having you do that yourself.

Note:Note that once you create the codes, you cannot simply edit the discount code parameters. If you need to change any part of the campaign, you have to delete all the codes and start over.
