Creating a New Email List (MailChimp)

In order to create a new email list:
  • From email address and name (i.e. One Live Media <support@onelivemedia.com>)
  • OLM MailChimp Access
  • Optional: Access to client's MailChimp account if they are sending themselves.

To Create a New Email List in MailChimp:

  1. Login to MailChimp at [button size="slarge,small,mini" color="green" url="http://login.mailchimp.com" ] http://login.mailchimp.com [/button].
  2. Once you are logged in you can select which account you need to access, whether it is the OLM mail account or the client's.
  3. Note: If it needs to be added to a client's, they will need to invite you to their list. If they do not have a MailChimp account they will need to create one.
  4. After you are logged into the appropriate account select LIST from the main menu.
  5. Then select [button size="large,small,mini" url="#." ]Create List[/button]
    • The below message will pop-up. In this case you will want to go ahead and select "Create List".
  6. Enter the list information:
    1. LIST NAME: Usually the client name and if it is a store or fan club list (i.e. One Live Media Fan Club)
    2. DEFAULT "FROM" EMAIL: The email address that will show when emails are sent. (Example below - "customerservice@down-nola.com")
    3. DEFAULT "FROM" NAME: The name people see when it is delivered to their inbox. (Example below - "Down-NOLA")
    4. REMIND PEOPLE HOW THEY GOT ON YOUR LIST: You can put something like "You are receiving this email because you opted in at ClientSite.com or Client's Official Online Store."
    5. CONTACT INFORMATION ON THIS LIST: You can leave this the One Live mailing address or if this is a venue update it to the venue's address.
  7. Once all information is entered click [button size="large,small,mini" url="#" ]Save[/button]
  8. You will then need to verify the domain to start sending. You can send the verification email via Settings > List name and defaults
  9. You will see red text under the "Default 'From' Email" section
  10. Note:You must verify you have permissions to send from testemail.com  verify domain
    1. Make sure the email address that is used is functioning OR use one that is in use and update to a no-reply@ email once it is verified.
    2. You will get a verification code that you will then enter in the "verify domain" area - it will look like you will be sending another verification email but just below that email address field you will see "Already have a verification code?" that you can input it.
  11. Once this the domain is verified you are done.
